How to Set Up Microsoft Teams

Follow every step to install Teams and join your first Quran lesson.

Download and Install Microsoft Teams

Open the official download website

Open Google Chrome, Safari, or another internet browser on your device. In the address bar at the top, enter:

Choose your device

Select the version that matches your device:

Windows computer: Choose the Windows download option.
Android phone: Open Google Play Store and search for Microsoft Teams.
iPhone or iPad: Open Apple's App Store and search for Microsoft Teams.

Install Teams on Windows

After downloading, open the Downloads folder on your computer.
Find the Microsoft Teams installation file.
Double-click the file to start installation.
If Windows asks for permission, select Yes.
Wait for the application to finish installing.
Open Microsoft Teams from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

Install Teams on your mobile phone

Open Google Play Store on Android or App Store on iPhone.
Search for Microsoft Teams.
Check that the app is published by Microsoft Corporation.
Tap Install or Get.
Wait until the download is complete.
Tap the Teams icon to open the application.

Open Teams and Prepare for Your Class

Open Microsoft Teams for the first time

When you open Teams, you may see a sign-in screen. You generally do not need to create a Microsoft account just to join a meeting as a guest.

Look for an option such as Join a meeting. If available, select it and follow the guest-joining instructions. If you are asked to sign in, you can also try opening the teacher's meeting link in your browser and choosing the guest or browser option when available.

Allow microphone and camera access

Your device may ask whether Teams can use your microphone and camera.

Select Allow when asked for microphone access.
Allow camera access if video will be used.
Allow notifications if you want to receive meeting alerts.

Without microphone permission, your teacher may not be able to hear your recitation.

Join Your Quran Class on Teams

Receive your class invitation

Your teacher or our team will send you a meeting link through WhatsApp or another agreed communication method. It will be a clickable web address.

Keep this message available on your phone or computer. Make sure you open the invitation for the correct class.

Open the meeting link

On your phone, tap the meeting link in WhatsApp.
On a computer, click the link or copy it into your browser's address bar and press Enter.
If prompted, select Open Microsoft Teams.
You may also see an option to continue in your browser.

Enter your name if joining as a guest

Find the box asking for your name.
Enter the student's full name.
Check the microphone and camera settings.
Click or tap Join now.

Depending on the meeting settings, you may be placed in a waiting room until your teacher admits you.

Check your microphone and sound

Make sure your device's volume is turned up.
Check that your microphone is not muted when you need to speak.
Use the microphone button to mute or unmute yourself.
Follow your teacher's instructions about turning your camera on or off.
Keep your device close enough to hear the lesson clearly.

How to Set Up Zoom Workplace

Follow these steps to install Zoom and join your first Quran lesson.

Open your internet browser and visit the official Zoom Download Center:

Always download Zoom from its official website or your device's official app store.

Choose the correct version

Windows computer: Download Zoom Workplace for Windows.
Android phone: Search for Zoom Workplace in Google Play Store.
iPhone or iPad: Search for Zoom Workplace in Apple's App Store.

Make sure the app is published by Zoom Communications, Inc.

Install Zoom on your Windows computer

Open your computer's Downloads folder.
Find the Zoom installation file.
Double-click the file to start installation.
Allow Windows to run the installer if permission is requested.
Wait for installation to finish.
Open Zoom Workplace from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

Install Zoom on your mobile phone

Open Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Search for Zoom Workplace.
Check the publisher's name.
Tap Install or Get.
Wait until the application is installed.
Tap the Zoom icon to open it.

Prepare Zoom for Your Quran Lesson

Understand the Zoom home screen

When you open Zoom, you may see several options:

New Meeting: Used to start your own meeting. You do not need this for your Quran class.
Join: Used to enter a meeting using its invitation details.
Sign In: Used to access your Zoom account.
Schedule: Used to arrange your own future meeting.

For your Quran lesson, you only need to join the meeting provided by your teacher. You generally do not need a Zoom account unless the host requires authentication.

Allow microphone and camera permissions

When Zoom asks for permission to access your microphone or camera, select Allow.

Microphone permission lets your teacher hear you.
Camera permission lets you share your video when required.
Increase your device volume so you can hear your teacher.

Join Your Quran Class on Zoom

Receive your Zoom meeting link

Your teacher or our team will share a Zoom meeting invitation with you. It will normally arrive through WhatsApp or another agreed communication channel.

Keep the message available so you can open it at your scheduled class time.

Click or tap the meeting link

On a mobile phone, tap the meeting link in WhatsApp.
On a computer, click the link or paste it into your browser.
If your browser asks to open Zoom Workplace, select Open Zoom Workplace.
If a browser joining option is available, you may use that instead.

Enter your name and meeting details

Type the student's name if Zoom asks for it.
If your teacher provided a meeting ID and passcode instead of a link, open Zoom and select Join.
Enter the meeting ID in the required box.
Enter the passcode if requested.
Select Join Meeting.

Connect your audio

Once you enter the meeting, Zoom may ask how you want to connect your audio.

On a computer, select Join with Computer Audio if this option appears.
On a mobile phone, select Wi-Fi or Cellular Data or the equivalent audio option.
Make sure your device volume is turned up.
Check that your microphone is not muted when it is your turn to recite.

Wait for your teacher and start learning

If you see a message saying the host will let you into the meeting, simply wait. Your teacher will admit you when the class is ready.

During the lesson, use the microphone button to mute or unmute yourself and follow your teacher's instructions about camera usage.

QUICK SOLUTIONS

Need Help Joining Your Class?

Find answers to common problems students may experience.

I clicked the link, but the meeting is not opening.

Check your internet connection. If the app does not open automatically, open Teams or Zoom manually and try again. You can also copy the link and paste it into Google Chrome.

My teacher cannot hear my voice.

Check whether your microphone is muted. Make sure you allowed microphone access in your device settings. If you are using a headset, check that it is connected.

I cannot hear my teacher.

Increase your phone or computer volume. Check that your sound is not muted and that audio is connected to the correct speaker or headphones.

It says the teacher or host has not started the meeting.

This usually means the teacher has not started the meeting yet. Wait a few minutes and check that you have joined at the correct scheduled time.

It asks me for a meeting password or passcode.

Check your invitation message. The meeting password may be included with the link or provided separately. If you cannot find it, contact your teacher.

The video or audio keeps freezing.

Move closer to your Wi-Fi router, close other apps using the internet, and try turning off your camera if your teacher allows it. Restarting the application may also help.

I accidentally left the meeting. How do I come back?

Open the original invitation link again and follow the joining instructions. If the meeting has ended or the link is no longer working, ask your teacher for assistance.
